How We Scan Files

Why This Page Exists

Many sites say “100% safe” with no evidence. This page lists exactly what we check, so you can judge the strength of our claims.

The Checks We Run

  1. Source check: we record where the file came from and when.
  2. Hash: we compute the SHA-256 hash and publish it so you can compare.
  3. Multi-engine scan: we upload the file to VirusTotal and link the report with its date.
  4. Permission review: we list requested permissions and flag any that do not match the app’s purpose.
  5. Clean-device test: we install on an isolated device or emulator and watch for unexpected behaviour, extra installs and network traffic.

What These Checks Cannot Prove

A clean scan is a snapshot, not a guarantee. Scanners miss new threats, and an app can behave differently on your device or after an update.

  • Antivirus engines can produce false positives and false negatives.
  • A short test cannot reveal every hidden behaviour.
  • A file with the same name later may be different.
  • Mods hosted inside third-party stores are not covered by our checks of the store app.

What You Should Still Do

Compare the hash on your own download, scan with your own tools, read the permissions, and keep your main accounts out of modded apps. Our guide to is happymod safe lists the full checklist.

Reporting a Problem

If you find a mismatch or a detection that we missed, tell us through the contact page. We re-test and update the table.
